Intravascular ultrasound plays an important role in the evaluation and management of coronary heart disease in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Using IVUS the operator can identify arterial size, structure, pathology, and can make interpretations regarding the effectiveness of coronary intervention.

You Will Learn

  • To define the limitations of coronary angiography and to define the role of intravascular ultrasound in addressing these limitations
  • To list the advantages, limitations, and risks of intravascular ultrasound
  • To identify the typical ultrasound findings of the arterial wall, lumen, and pathologic structures including IEL, EEL, intima, and lumen
  • To define the role of IVUS during coronary intervention or PCI

Method and medium:
