Description:

Pericardial diseases are a diverse group of disorders that relate to both cardiac and non-cardiac processes. With the increasing prevalence of heart surgery, interventional procedures, immunosuppression, and radiation therapy, these conditions are becoming increasingly common. Modern imaging with CT, echo, or cardiac MRI allows for more accurate diagnosis while techniques in the cardiac catheterization laboratory allow precise definition of physiology and potential platforms for treatment.

You Will Learn

  • To describe the cardiac and non-cardiac etiologies of pericardial disease
  • To review the role of the normal pericardium and pericardial fluid
  • To discuss the pericardial stress-strain relationship

Method and medium:

Learners participate in the interactive learning modules by correctly answering multiple choice questions dispersed throughout. Learners will be prompted to try again, if a question is answered incorrectly. The course will open in a new tab – to exit the course, simply close the tab.
