Description:

Ultrasound artifacts, which are becoming increasingly rare as technology improves, can still lead to critical errors in interpretation if they are not recognized and dealt with appropriately. A proper understanding of how they are created allows the echocardiographer to recognize, and work around these potentially hazardous pitfalls. This course focuses on artifacts caused by normal anatomic variants including the Chiari network, Coumadin ridge, and pericardial sinus, among others. (NOTE: This material is best understood after completing The Physics of Ultrasound series first.)

You Will Learn

Normal anatomic variants including:

  • the Eustachian valve/Chiari network
  • Crista terminalis
  • Septomarginal trabecula
  • Coumadin ridge
  • Lipomatous hypertrophy of the IAS
  • Lambi excrescences
  • Pericardial sinus
  • Pleural effusions
  • Linear artifacts and mirror image artifacts

Method and medium:
