Coronary collaterals are congenitally established channels connecting the epicardial coronary arteries. They vary in size from 20 to 350 microns and thus, many are smaller than the 100 micron imaging resolution of coronary angiography. Collateral channels exist in normal patients but increase in size and number when there is chronic coronary artery disease. In this course, we will discuss the clinical significance of coronary collaterals as they relate to patients with coronary heart disease.
Learners participate in the interactive learning modules by correctly answering multiple choice questions dispersed throughout. Learners will be prompted to try again, if a question is answered incorrectly. The course will open in a new tab – to exit the course, simply close the tab.
