Atrial septal defects (ASD) are among the more commonly diagnosed congenital defects and can present at any age from infancy to late in life. Significant advances in imaging, interventional cardiology, and cardiac surgery allow for an array of potential therapies depending on the location of the defect. This lesson focuses on the approach to these lesions in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, including shunt calculations.
